The seasons are changing and I thought it would be a good time to share my recipe for Turkey Chili. It's delicious, easy to make, and falls under 300 calories!
I have to confess that the concept of turkey chili did not appeal to me a few years ago. I was very stuck in my ways of eating, as it was everything I knew from my family. I immediately thought it would taste horrible, even thought I never tried it.
As I got further into my weight loss journey, I decided that I would give it a try. So I made it exactly like I normally would, just replacing the beef with ground turkey. And it was pretty good! Over the years I have made adjustments and really love what it has become.
One of the biggest changes was switching from regular ground turkey to ground turkey breast. It's true that turkey breast has barely any fat and can dry out but in this case, it's cooked with tomato sauce so it's okay. Making that switch saved me 140 calories per serving! Totally worth it.
As you may know, I often add Greek yogurt in my cooking. In this case, I'm using it as is to top my chili in place of sour cream. It's a great way to add more protein while still getting complimenting the chili.
In the recipe I have 3 tablespoons of chili powder, which makes for a somewhat mild chili. If you like foods spicy, simply increase it until you reach your desired heat.
I hope you enjoy my Turkey Chili. It tastes great, fills you up and is good for the whole family.
