Winter Smoothie Bowl

Sharing is Tasty ~

This is the first smoothie bowl recipe that I’m sharing with you! In the spring, summer and fall, I typically opt for smoothies because I am always on the go. However, with the cooler weather, I was feeling like it’s a good time to curl up on the couch with the blankets and enjoy my breakfast that way. This Winter Smoothie Bowl is a perfect pick-me-up!

I recently shared a recipe for a winter salad that utilized produce currently in season. Because of how tasty that salad was, inspired me to utilize some of the same ingredients for this smoothie bowl.

Currently, apples, pears and pomegranates are in season and offering really great flavors. Both apples and pomegranates fall under the category of superfood. Apples are actually unbelievably healthy for you. Check out my ingredient spotlight to see how amazing they are.

To get the most nutrients, you need to leave the skin on as that’s where all the goodies are located. Luckily, it’s easy to do in this case.

As for the Greek yogurt, I always use the plain, fat free kind. It’s most definitely an acquired taste. I still can’t eat it plain without making a face lol. I added one tiny drop of almond extract and a little honey and it completely changed the game. It’s so good and still way less calories and sugar than pre-made flavored yogurts.

When you put it all together with the almonds, it’s pretty darn amazing! Each fruit adds its unique texture, coupled with their sweetness. When you combine the fruits with the creamy yogurt and crunchy almonds, each bite hits all the right tastebuds. How can you not love it?!
