The Power of Positive Affirmations

Saying positive things to yourself makes a huge difference in your weight loss success. It’s important to remain positive and always have your inner voice keep cheering you on. Positive affirmations are one of your biggest weight loss tools.

When I began my journey, someone told me to name three of my physical features that I like about myself. It took me a few minutes to come up with just one feature. I was so used to looking in the mirror and only seeing everything that needed to be changed on me.

It bothered me that I couldn’t find three things that I liked about my appearance. So I decided to try again and this time try to look at myself the way my loved ones do - you know, not solely focus on each imperfection. I saw a different me that day. I was able to see my pretty eyes, great big cheekbones and the smile that made the other features shine.

Now it’s your turn. Look in the mirror and find your three favorite features.

Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Got ‘em? Great!

Now look in the mirror again celebrate each of those features. Tell yourself that you are beautiful and strong and you’re gonna crush your whole journey.

If you’re like most people, you just said all of that to yourself in your head. Let’s do it again but this time say it out loud. You want to project confidence when you say it. Mean it. Own it.

Every morning you should start your day with saying something positive to yourself. Compliment yourself. Look yourself in the eye and tell yourself that you are strong and you’re gonna kick butt today. I know it may sound a bit strange but it helps start your day off right.

When you’re working out and feel like you’re hitting a wall, take a moment to take a deep breath and exhale any doubts. Tell yourself that you’re strong and you can do this. Once you finish the workout, celebrate your victory.

As your journey progresses, you will have new things to compliment yourself on. And it’s good that you do because celebrating all victories, both big and small, keeps you motivated and focused on the goal.
